Office Health and Safety

At first glance the office environment may appear to be the safest environment in which to work. However Health and Safety statistics have highlighted that many unnecessary and avoidable accidents occur in offices everyday, perhaps due to people’s lack of awareness of basic safety principles.

First Health and Safety’s Office Safety e-learning module, provides an in depth guide to the hazards and risks posed by today’s office environment.  Particular focus is given to Slips and Trips, Fire, DSE and Manual Handling, which contribute the most to compromise safety in the office.

Learning outcomes

This course is designed to allow the learner to demonstrate understanding of health and safety in the office environment and the knowledge of how to apply this information practically.

This will cover a number of elements including:-

  • The different types of risks and hazards that can occur in the office
  • Have an awareness of the main principles of HACCP
  • How employers & employees can work together to help reduce the risk of accidents or injury
  • The basics of using VDU’s safely and Manual Handling

Who should complete this course?

The course is designed for employees with little or no knowledge of health and safety in the office so is ideal for induction and refresher training.

  • Prior Learning? - None required
  • Pre Course learning? - Learners may wish to read the Workplace, Health, Safety & Welfare Regulations 1992 but this is not a requirement.
  • Certification - All candidates who successfully complete the module will be issued with a certificate of learning.
  • Duration - 1hour
